Camera Shy Love

I would have posted sooner, but I needed to convince my camera shy model, Fritz the rhino, that I would photograph him on his best side... He has been watching the Biggest Loser as of late and has become very self conscience about his love handles, which I think are lovely.
On his ears are some earrings I have been making by the bundle with wire and beads. First I wrapped a thicker wire around a cup or bottle to make my hoop, then I wrapped a thinner wire around it five times, then threaded a bead through, wrapped it two more times than another bead, and so on. Its so fun to wear these to work, and nothings better then getting compliments on something you have made!

Forever and a Day without a post!

My utmost apologizes for not blogging sooner!! So much has happened!
First I moved to a new apartment with my younger sister Kate. Right at this very moment I am sitting on my super hand me down couch that my dear friend Roger gave us, in other words FREE, and I love free. And boy is it fabulous! I am soon to be creating a couch cover, we will see how long that takes me!
Second, I have no TV in my apartment, well my sister has one, but I am TV free, although I must admit I cheat and watch some show online, but mostly TV free... he he.
Third I have been reading like crazy, right now I am reading Skinny Bitch, not the nicest title and a little rough around the edges, but I LOVE it! Seriously, looking at eating healthy in a whole new light!! I actually sent away for a free eating vegetarian starter kit at GoVeg.com we will see if I stick too it!
I have been reading the Twilight Series, and let me just start out by saying I am not a Vampire book reading Gal, but seriously, best series this year that I read, and you can pick up the first one at Target for like nine bucks. The movie comes out in December and I can't wait!
Fourth I have been creating, and I can't wait to post these super easy cheesy earrings that I have been making by the bundle. Check back by weeks end I should have them posted if I get ambitious
I have also had to swallow my pride a lot and apologize a lot to people that I have said stuff too before thinking, and I have to remember that I am God's work in progress and wont be finished till heaven!
And lastly my 5k is on Saturday, and oh my gosh is the Olympics inspiring, at work we have all the races on, so I have been trying to follow their lead, keeping my face loose, my hands unclenched and my strides wide. I practiced with my friend Lauren Loo (thats not really her last name, but it has a ring to it!) today and I was actually running a faster pace in the beginning and now I just have to work on my endurance, lets see if I can finish it in under 30!

Television Fast

This picture has nothing to do with the post, but it does make me laugh everytime I see my huge piece of cake....Ok so I have wanted to Quilt for a while, I want a big bright quilt engulfing my bed, which makes me smile everytime I see it, although I never seem to have enough time in the day to do it. Then just the other night my boyfriend and I were discussing how we want to raise our fictious children, I said no TV, and then it got us talking about how much we watch... I insisted that I hardly touch the remote control at all, don't watch it, unless I am cuddling up at his house, and then he reminded me about how many episodes of CSI, CSI Miami, CSI New York, Law and Or.... ok I get it ! I watch alot of TV. Usually when I am by myself with apparently nothing better to do. My parents didn't allow us to watch more then one show a week growing up, and we were always outside creating things or hiking through the woods or drawing or reading, basically having tons of fun and getting into a little bit of trouble. So I have decided, tomorrow no more TV, I dont know how long I will last or if it should include movies or if I should refrain from watching it when I visit at friends and boyfriends houses.... I really dont think I will have tight rules. But I want to get back to writing letters to friends, hand written ones, which reminds me I owe my New York pen pal a letter! I want to quilt and take pictures, I want to wake up with the sunrise and go running.... And no TV for me!

Wedding

So this fourth of July has been super busy! Not only was this Katie and David 's( my favorite couple in the world) 4th anniversary (Four YEARS! It seems like yesterday Katie and I were flinging whip cream at un-suspecting Baskin Robbins customers, and now she is MARRIED, for four years, to the nicest guy ever) But now I have yet another reason to celebrate! Jovan's parents got married this last Saturday, and I got to take pictures! What an awesome ceremony of celebration it was! And the empanada's that Abby and Jimmy made, delish! I pray that the adoption of a child in need of Laura and Mike's love move swiftly!

New York New York

So I am going to gush a little bit, we had sooo much fun in New York. Our tickets to the Yankees game were FANTASTIC! As you can see from the photo I got to see Alice, and eat a yummy cupcake, well ok one and a half cupcakes at Magnolia bakery. My dear friend Stephaine watched my babies (plants that is...) and MY how they have grown!! Today I made pasta sauce and even used some of my very own basil leaves, delish!

I have been listening to the old Matt Costas Cd and I love it. Great albums are so wonderful, its like revisiting an old friend. What albums can make you smile, over and over again?

Growing Season

So growing season is settling in quite nicely, but not having a yard certainly puts a damper on having your own little patch of earth. This is my first attempt at gardening from pots, and so far so good. The picture above is of my temperamental tomato plants, without fail when I get up in the morning they are grumpy at me and wilted, I have tried feeding them at night too, but then the soil gets moldy.Any suggestions? My basil on the other hand (first picture) is always happy to see me! I cant wait to add some of this to my homemade pastas!
As for my life besides plants I have been taking photos like a maniac, planning for the Upcoming New York trip, we are going to see a James Bond film in bryant park with an old friend and his wife, picnic included! And creating as much as possible! Sadly it seems my running has taken the back seat with this huge heat wave, but hopefully I will be back on the sadle again soon. Endorphins are good!
I just read this today and was really convicted "If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, his (or her!) work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light" 1 Cor 3:12-13 So often I try to do life on my own, and God keeps showing me that it is impossible, but with Him all things are possible!
Sending warm hugs to all!

Grand Theft Auto 5000

So I am still up, searching the Internet for eco-friendly baby clothing and rock lullabies. Check out Coldplay's rendition of Don't Panic for little people. One of my dear friends from art class is having a baby shower on Sunday, and I last minute am still looking for gifts. (to be honest I have already got presents, but seriously any excuse to look at baby stuff and I am there. I secretly have a giraffe baby sweater hoarded away in my drawer for my future babes...well not so secretly,I showed my boyfriend today, and miraculously he didn't run away screaming, he's a keeper.)The boy next to me is whispering profanities at the computer, no he doesn't have turrets, he has Grand Theft Auto 4, apparently there were like 2 Grand Theft Auto 3's so is this the fifth? I don't know I am not really a video game girl, except if its Tekkin (sp?)3, the fighting game that you can just randomly press a combo of buttons and stuff happens. The whole hand eye coordination thing I don't have (made obvious in my attempts to play basketball, one of the only 8th graders to still be on JV back in the day, sad I know, but I persevered) So totally uninterested in the whole video game thing, but as a sidenote it is nice to lay on the couch with him not speaking but being totally comfortable.
So today I came home with treasures from the art department. A few weeks ago I worked on the wheel throwing cups in the ceramics room, thinking I would be a natural. And today I picked them up, needless to say they are rather lopsided, but I am a proud mama and will be using them whenever possible. I will post some pictures soon!
Here's to you late night blog reader, sweet dreams!

Summer Solstice Tote by Anthropologie

Summer's here and my weekend in New York is fastly approaching. The boy and I are spending three days and two nights in one of my favorite cities. Obiviously a Yankee's game is a must. I want to see Alice in Central Park and eat a cupcake of yumminess at Magnolia Bakery. Any other suggestions?
